CATAN National Championship 2026 Ticket

Card Merchant is incredibly excited to be working with CATAN Studio and Asmodee to bring the 2026 New Zealand CATAN National Championship to Wellington!

Following 10 CATAN Cities Events held across New Zealand, players from around the country will come together for one final event to determine the 2026 New Zealand CATAN National Champion.

Nationals is an open-entry event, meaning anyone can enter and compete. However, the winners of our 10 Cities Events have earned a fast track directly into the Top 16, bypassing the preliminary rounds.

Event Structure

The National Championship will be played using base game CATAN, with a maximum of five games across the day.

The event will begin with three preliminary rounds. All non-seeded players will compete across these three games, with opponents rotating each round and standings determined by overall tournament performance.

At the conclusion of Round 3, there will be a 45-minute late lunch break.

The highest-ranked players from the preliminary rounds will then join the Cities Event winners who earned their fast track to make up the Top 16. If any Cities Event winner does not attend Nationals, their seeded position will instead become an additional qualifying spot from the preliminary rounds.

The Top 16 will be divided across four semifinal tables. The winner of each table advances to the final, where the remaining four players will compete in one final game of CATAN.

The winner of that table will be crowned the 2026 New Zealand CATAN National Champion.
